Texas World Speedway

Four years ago I was out to the CMRA Superbike Endurance races at Texas World Speedway near College Station, Texas. I took photos and did a write-up for Cycle News.

TWS is a fast track, and crowd control is somewhat tight. However, I was able to execute a photographer’s waiver and got close enough for some decent shots.

This RideSmart Team KTM was going great guns, and I got a series of shots of the bike lifting the front wheel at over 100 at a spot where the track crosses a small rise. This shot turned out to be popular, and agencies have sold a number of copies.

Another favorite from the day was this image of the starting grid.

There was one good spot on the inside of a turn where it was possible to get close.

About John Blanton

I'm a retired engineer living in San Antonio, Texas. I have served in the Navy, raced motorcycles, taken scads of photos and am usually a nice guy. I have political and religious opinions, and these opinions tend to be driven by an excess of observed stupidity. Gross stupidity is the supposed target of many of my posts.
