This post is especially for my grandson, John. All others can ignore this one.
John, I promised to send you some photos of our trip to Alicante. I took these just for you.
Here is Barbara at the train station in Tarragona, waiting for the train to arrive.
Here is the train platform. No trains are coming.
Here is the train schedule board inside the terminal. Our train is number 1101 to Alacant-Terminal.
Here is Barbara out on the station platform waiting for the train.
And finally, here comes our train into the station. The train is coming from Barcelona and is going to Alicante. He had only two minutes to get on the train before it left the station.
Here is Barbara in her seat on the train. The train is going about 100 miles per hour. Things are really zipping by.
The train car was not too full. Traveling by train is very comfortable. There’s lots more room than traveling by plane.
The trip took four hours. Barbara did some knitting on the trip.
I set the camera on the service tray across the aisle and took a timed exposure showing the two of us in our seats.
We went hundreds of miles down the coast of Spain, passing through cities and small towns. Here are some photos of what we saw.
Finally, in Alicante, everybody exited the train. This is far as this train goes.
And it was time for Barbara to get our luggage in order. Our hotel is across the street from the train station, and we rolled our luggage through the station and out the front and checked into our hotel.
That night we went out and had a salad for dinner. We walked along this pedestrian mall, and I took some time exposures. The weather is very pleasant here, even warmer than San Antonio. We are always thinking of you while we are gone. I will come to visit you after we get back.
