Make a run for the border.

Adventures in Big Bend Territory

Spring break, and we took a break. Our second day in Big Bend territory we took the River Road Drive. Something under a hundred miles of roller coaster road that follows (and sometimes doesn’t) the river downstream. Mexico on the right, Trump Territory on the left. The Camry never faltered.

Hey! It’s springtime. Desert flowers are full and colorful.

Santa Elana Canyon splits the border. I was here before in 1955. It’s amazing how some things hang in there, oblivious to time.

It is the Big Country. You get the idea it can eat you alive.

A ranger station in the park. How come I thought I could hear Marty Robbins singing “The Streets of Laredo?”

It was 99 when we got to Presidio on Wednesday. Saturday coming home there was snow alongside I-10.

About John Blanton

I'm a retired engineer living in San Antonio, Texas. I have served in the Navy, raced motorcycles, taken scads of photos and am usually a nice guy. I have political and religious opinions, and these opinions tend to be driven by an excess of observed stupidity. Gross stupidity is the supposed target of many of my posts.
